This project focused on:
Nitrogen (N) management strategies
Improved recommended application times and methods based on N conservation and movement in the tree, utilization of stored N and uptake of applied N
Use of selected legume ground covers to supply N and harbor beneficial arthropods to suppress pecan aphid populations
Improvement in uptake of phosphorus and potassium with band applications
Evaluation of several materials for foliar zinc application
Identified manganese (Mn) deficiency in pecan and established a method to correct the shortage with foliar applications. Shortages of Mn are primarily on alkaline soils in the Red River Basin.
