Class A: Standard (9 inch pie)

Class A: Quick Bread (standard loaf)

Class B: Yeast Bread (standard loaf)

Class C: Rolls (6 rolls)

 

Pecan Candy:

Class A: Pecan Fudge (12 pieces)

Class B: Pecan Brittle or Pralines (12 pieces)

Class C: Pecan Divinity (12 pieces)

Class D: Other Pecan Candy (12 pieces)

 

Pecan Cakes:

Class A: Without Frosting

Class B: Frosted (with pecans in cake)

 

Pecan Cookies:

Class A: Pecan Cookies (12 cookies)

Class B: Pecan Brownies (12 brownies)

 

Pecan Meats:

Class A: Salted or Spiced (1 cup)

Class B: Candied (1 cup)

Awards

 

Grand Champions will be presented with the Mount Silver Awards. The Adult Grand Champions will be awarded a silver serving piece; the Junior Grand Champions will be awarded silver pecan jewelry. The awards will be presented at the Oklahoma Pecan Growers’ Association banquet.

General Rules

  • Adult Division – Any person who is out of high school may enter.

  • Junior Division – Any student through grade 12 may enter. Recent high school graduates will compete in the adult division.

  • The food entries must be prepared by the exhibitor.

  • The Pecan Food Show will be held Friday during the annual conference and trade show.

  • Entries will be accepted between 7:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.  The entries must remain in place until 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

  • The Grand Champion in each category will become the property of the Oklahoma Pecan Growers' Association and will be auctioned during the banquet on Friday evening.

  • Entries, other than Grand Champion, may be picked up from the Food Show after 4:00 p.m. Friday.

  • Entries not removed by 4:30 p.m. become the property of the Oklahoma Pecan Growers’ Association.

  • All entries must be displayed in a disposable paper or aluminum container, covered with a transparent wrapping. Pecan meats may be displayed in a plastic bag. Sponsors will not be responsible for returning any containers.

  • Exhibitor’s name and address should be attached securely to the bottom of the container only. Do not put the name where it will be visible to the judges.

  • The recipe must accompany each entry. Recipes for pies should include crust and filling; recipes for frosted cakes should include cake and frosting; etc.

  • Exhibitor’s name must not appear anywhere on the recipe; do not print exhibitor’s name on the back.

  • Pecans must be used in the food, not just for decoration.

  • The Pecan Food Show will be closed during judging from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Thursday.  Winners will be posted immediately after the judging is completed.

  • Each entry will be judged for taste, texture, appearance and uniformity. Recipes and entries will be checked for use of pecans.

  • Exhibits may be viewed from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

  • Ribbons will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each class for Adult and Junior Divisions.

  • Silver awards will be presented to Grand Champions in each category for Adult and Junior Divisions.
